Paul and Nina have been making pots together since 1996 and moved from Johannesburg to McGregor in the same year. Paul’s love of wood-fired ceramics is what led him to want to move his studio to the countryside, where there was an abundance of alien vegetation for firing with! He has a formal ceramics background, including a diploma from Technikon Witwatersrand in Ceramic Design and served a three-year apprenticeship with Kim Sacks.

Nina has a Masters Degree in Industrial Sociology from Wits University and conducts research from time to time. Her family ties with McGregor led the couple to move here. As the studio and their children, Sarah and Joshua, have grown, she has found more time to create pots.

At their pottery studio the couple produce high temperature, wood-fired and salt-glazed stoneware and porcelain. They also make wood-fired terracotta and electric-fired domestic ware, as well as sculptural and decorative raku pieces.
